Desmond
Dolly
Pywacket
It is always difficult to part with a pet, no matter what the reason, no matter how "prepared" you might be.  Our friends, Ed and Jan Kroll, went through
the loss of three pets in the space of a few months.
Desmond was a huge part of the Kroll family since he was a puppy, Pywacket was a long term
member of the family also.
Dolly was rescued by Ed and Jan a few years ago.  All three pets were loved, and all will be missed a great deal.  Our
condolences go out to Ed and Jan.  Don't worry though, their home and life are by no means empty -  Sadie, a perfectly normal cat, Abbey (crazy
cat) her brother Jo-Jo (very large and very crazy polydactyl cat), and Jackson, the three legged wonder cat, will all continue to fill the Kroll
household with laughter and love.
Calvin was born in May of 1988 (yes, Eighty-eight), and was with us from the age of 6 weeks.  She was the
sister of "Hobbes", who passed away in November of 2004, and her best friend was "Killer", who is
remembered below.
Calvin was a very nice cat whose favorite "hobby" as a younger cat was her "Venus
Fly-Trap" game, where she would lay on her back, belly to the sky, until someone rubbed her belly, at
which point she would clamp onto the rubbing arm with all four limbs.
Calvin was a trooper, dealing with
diabetes, renal failure, and high blood pressure.  She handled her daily medical care with grace until the
end.
Calvin will be missed a great deal.  We imagine she will be greeted somewhere by her buddy Killer,
who will promptly lick her forehead the way he used to.

Killer was born in our home in February of 1993.  We had rescued his mom while she was
still pregnant.
Killer was fondly known as our "linebacker" because he was huge.  Long,
tall, broad shouldered, and with a huge head.
Killer also had a wonderful personality.
Affectionate, sweet, and he cared for his feline companions, especially his 'step-sister'
"Calvin", who already misses him very much.
Killer passed because of a heart condition
that also took his brother "Handsome" several years ago.  We will miss having
Killer around
our home, but will always be grateful for having him in our lives to begin with, and are
thankful he survived as long as he did after his heart condition was diagnosed.

Memorials
This handsome dog is Hershey.  We here at the sanctuary rescued
Hershey a little before we began official operations in 2002.  We had found
out about him after receiving an email.  At the time, he was being kept at
the pound in Mansfield, Ohio, and was about to be euthanized.  He was
not considered adoptable due to a small bite wound on one of his legs.
Thanks to the kindness of the animal control officer in Mansfield, he kept

Hershey
safe until we were able to rush there to rescue him.  We had no
idea of his background, but when we rescued him he had to be treated for
the leg wound, and for heart-worm.  We found an excellent home for
Hershey (mom and dad) and he lived as all pets should....absolutely
spoiled.  He was an excellent companion, and his passing in July of 2007
(liver condition) is heart-breaking.  However, the many wonderful memories
of his life will be the topic of conversations for many years, as he will never
be forgotten.
